This is a review of the Deluxe Edition of this EP, and will take into account all tracks involved.
With the release of their single “We Live Here”, in late March last year, I was first introduced to the London-based punk-rap duo that is Bob Vylan. With such a strong focus on racism in the UK, and even a nod to the Stephen Lawrence murder case, it instantly stood out as a defining track of 2020.
And while we later got the releases of a few more…

My earliest memory of being aware of the musical project of Wolverhampton rap artist Marius Lucas Antonio Listhrop, known as Scarlxrd (pronounced as scarlord), was simply the word of mouth going around upon the time when Reading Festival was a few years ago. When some of the friends I hung out with at siad festival, returned to the campsite drenched in sweat and dirt, I knew that I had missed out on something big.
Nevertheless, I still hadn’t heard an awful lot of Scarlxrd’s discography, beyond…

I was first exposed to the wonderfully unique sound of Tash Sultana through her 2018 album Flow State, where I managed to get a very good sense of her brand of indie rock, with a soulful and jazzy feel. for this, I regarded Flow State as one of my favourite projects of that year, and it was definitely fair to say that I became a fan of her work from then on out.
In the following year, Sultana took a more easy approach towards releasing…

“Who Am I?” is the sophomore studio album from Manchester-based post punk outfit Pale Waves, a band who, for one reason or another, I have admittedly glossed over, up until this point. But much like I have with a few artists already this year, I decided that 2021 was a good enough reason for me to give this album a shot. That motivation, along with a promo video for the album that I managed to stumble across, I suddenly felt pretty invested in giving “Who Am I?”…

JPEGMAFIA truly sticks out like a sore thumb in the rap game, and I mean that in the best way possible. I was mind-blown by his third studio album, 2019's All My Heroes Are Cornballs, which equally served as my full-on introduction to JPEG and his mind-mashingly surreal sound and satirically dark aesthetic.
And after the year of 2019, it felt that Peggy was more than deserving of a short break 1n…

Until very recently, It felt weird to know that the only real thing I knew about The Pretty Reckless, was the fact that the lead singer of the New York rock band, Taylor Momsen, was the very same person who played Cindy Lou in the live action movie adaptation of The Grinch. Consequently, I knew that the band existed, but with 2021 still being a pretty fresh year, it felt like an appropriate time for me to finally get into their music.
My first taste of what…

It is most certainly fair to say that Northampton-raised rap artist Tyron Frampton, more widely known as slowthai, nad little trouble getting that big break with his 2019 debut album, Nothing Great About Britain, which stood as one of my favourite albums of that year.
That first album felt like a remarkable representation of slowthai’s rap style and aesthetic, and felt relatable unlike any other project, thanks to the constant references that I was able to pick up on, being a UK kid growing up in the early…

When I first heard about Black Country, New Road, for whatever reason, I had no idea that they were actually a band. I don’t know how I got it into my head that they were an events company, but I’ll leave that embarrassing assumption in the past.
What Black Country, New Road actually are, is a 7-piece post-rock group that was formed in London in 2018. With their debut single release “Sunglasses” in 2019, the lead-up to their debut album carefully grew.
At the very beginning of…

It was through their third album, titled And Now for the Whatchamacallit, that I first discovered the Australian psychedelic rock band that is Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
Through said album, I was very easily able to get a good sense of just how whimsical the band truly sounded, and even amongst psychedelic rock counterparts, the Crumpets stood out as uniquely enjoyable.
That very same year, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets followed up said album with a stand-alone single, Titled “Mundungus”, this track marked the fact that the band were already…

The same can probably be said for a lot of people my age, but Foo Fighters were one of the band that I had grown up listening to. The post grunge sound of their earlier efforts defined my late childhood, and so did their 2007 album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. I have also had the pleasure of seeing Foo Fighters live not once, but twice (the first being at the Invictus Games closing ceremony in 2014, and the latter being their headline set at Reading…
