I’ll keep this review short and sweet, because this album is neither of those.

Mac DeMarco needs little introduction at this point, primarily because of the the earlier records such as Salad Days and This Old Dog, both of which really put the artist on the map as an alternative indie-rock innovator.

But as the years have gone on, Mac DeMarco’s music has gotten all the more stale, with my disappointment starting at the likes of his 2019 album Here Comes The Cowboy, and only worsening with Five Easy Hot Dogs, an album that only arrived a few months back, which saw the artist releasing a bland series of instrumental tunes, rather than the style of music that made him so well-received.

That being said, I didn’t receive the second album released from Mac DeMarco this year with much gratitude from the very get-go.

But to my shock, this album has a total of…199 songs!

That’s right, not even three months after the release of Five Easy Hot Dogs, Mac DeMarco regurgitates a nine-and-a-half hour long album for only the most bored of music listeners to listen to from start to finish (honestly, if you sat through all of it from beginning to end, I both respect and fear for you).

And from the tiny little snippets of this album that I have heard, it just sounds like more instrumentals. Only this time, it’s nearly half a days worth!

I honestly don’t think I would be able to sit through this album if there was 100 grand on the line. It’s a shame that another negative review has to be aimed at an artist that I actually used to really like, but there’s just no excuse for how offensively messy, and stupidly gimmicky this album truly is.

Final Score: 10%
