After reviewing so many albums from well-known artists mostly out of my own accord, It’s refreshing to actually have an artist come to me to ask about having their music reviewed and shared with a wider audience. The independent Tunisian record producer and rapper Nizar Boubaker, known on this project as Nizar13 is such a person.

It goes without saying, of course, that I had no idea what kind of music I would be getting into after accepting this artists request to review his brand new album Just More. However, I was more than intrigued to find out.

I was impressed to find that at the very get-go, Nizar13 seems to be championing that abstract hip-hop feel that has been presented by a handful of other artists that I really enjoy, especially in his instrumentals.

That being said, Nizar13 clearly wanted to show off his production prowess on this album, as a fair chunk of it is made up of instrumental tunes. Not to say that’s at all a problem, however; quite the opposite actually. The beats on Just More has an atmospherically urban feel, that would make for awesome background music for city walks at a time of year like this one.

Furthermore, it has that kind of alternative, sobering feeling as well, making it a record that is easy for one to immerse themselves into. By collaborating with other artists hailing from the USA, Germany and France, Just More has a very worldly feel to it too.

While having a list of ten tracks, Just More lasts just under 12 minutes long. That being said, there’s no denying that this project is an easy one to experience, even if on a time constraint. Don’t get it twisted though; while it has the same runtime that most EPs might boast (or even surpass, for that matter), Nizar13 describes this project as an album.

He’s not quite done with setting the narrative in stone with just this musical project either; as Nizar13 aims to translate this further through other creative mediums such as a book guide and documented diary.

These kinds of thing go to show that Just More is a project that this artist has indeed poured all of their passion into. And even from the snippet-sized duration of this album, this is clear to see in my mind.

That being said, I felt that it wasn’t necessary to tack a rating onto this review, but instead keep it short and sweet, share this project with my audience of readers, and recommend that you give this artful project a listen.

My articles mainly revolve around music reviews and analysis. A bit like Anthony Fantano, but just a decade behind.
